This eighteen-month program involves both scheduled classroom learning activities and workplace based learning activities and assessment. This program provides learners with skills and knowledge required to provide care for individual and groups of children. This includes planning activities, facilitating care programming and leading childhood developmental activities. This course is suitable for individuals who wish to pursue a career in Early Childhood Education and Care. This course provides not only the foundation skills in caring for children but also includes higher level skills and knowledge used in operating an early childhood care service.


This qualification reflects the role of workers in a range of early childhood education settings. Students will learn to support the implementation of an approved learning framework, and support children’s wellbeing, learning and development. Depending on the setting, educators may work under direct supervision or autonomously in a range of child care facilities such as full day care centre, occasional care facilities, crèches, family day care and early learning centres as an Early Childhood Educator.


Students who attain this qualification typically are able, in most states, to operate as the director or service manager for children's service centre-based care.


This qualification equips students to work with children

from 0-5 years of age.


To be eligible for this qualification, applicants must:

  • Be over the age of 18
  • Completed Working with Children Check before

commencement of any child contact sessions.

  • Be reasonably physically fit, as the role typically

involves bending, reaching, stretching, kneeling and

lifting babies and small children.


Children’s Services come under a single set of regulations as part of the National Quality Framework for Early Childhood Education and Care. The Australian Children’s Education and Care Quality Authority (ACECQA) will guide implementation of the Framework.  Further information is available from the ACECQA website.


Expected duration

The program is designed to be delivered over 18 months, being 69 weeks training and assessment plus 9 weeks breaks. Integrity College can support individuals that need additional time. Alternatively, students who have pre-existing skills and knowledge may be able to complete the course in a shorter duration. Integrity College offers recognition of prior learning and recognises the outcomes issued by other RTOs. If you have prior learning or hold current competency, let us know during your enrolment.


Delivery and assessment program

The format for delivery/assessment is designed on a three days per week training program conducted over a 69-week delivery program, plus 9 weeks holiday breaks (18 months) involving a combination of two days theory and simulated practical sessions in the classroom, practical workplace sessions and home-based study and assessment completion.


The student is required to participate in the following:

Classroom Sessions – 2 days per week for 69 weeks which comprises the following

  • Day 1 - theory (8 hours)
    • Day 2 - Tutorial Session (4 hours) and Practical Skills Training (2 hours)

Work placement

  • One day per week (minimum 7 hours) for 69 weeks 

Self Study/Assessment Completion

  • 6 hours per week for 69 weeks


Students without any prior qualifications, will undertake a course consisting of twenty-eight (28) units of competency comprising of:

  • twenty-three (23) core units and
  • five (5) elective units, there are restrictions on the elective selection

Upon successful completion of the course a you will be awarded a CHC50113 Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care Participants.


Students who exit the training program without completing all units of competency will be issued with a statement of attainment for those units in which they have demonstrated competency Integrity College.

*Please note, students are entitled to a full refund of all fees paid if the student provides a notice of their withdrawal two weeks before the course commences.

If students withdraw during the first unit of the course only 50% of fee payment will be refunded.

Students who withdraw from the course will forfeit any outstanding fees that are paid.

Students who withdraw from the course in a particular term will not be libel for any fees due in subsequent terms.

Integrity College can also arrange an alternative payment plan to suit the student's circumstances.

Classroom and practical skills training will be delivered at 3/52-58 Memorial Avenue Liverpool and work placement will be undertaken at the host approved education and care service


Work placement

The course contains a minimum of 240 hours of work placement. Work placement must be conducted in an approved education and care service, supervised by a qualified staff member.  


The work placement hours must be undertaken to successfully complete the qualification and are monitored using a logbook, which requires workplace supervisor sign-off to verify attendance.


Family Day Care educators are obliged to undertake part of their work placement with a host Child Care Centre so they can meet the requirement to care for three children under two years of age. Integrity College will make the necessary arrangements with a Centre.


Please note that the Child Care Facility may operate long hours and as such may require the student to commence work at 7am or finish after 5pm.


Enrolment requirements


Students who are interested in applying for this course need to go to the Integrity College website and

select the "Enrol Now" link at the bottom of our website:


The prospective student will then need to fill out and submit the online application form. Integrity College will contact the student to arrange for a compulsory pre-enrolment interview and completion of an online language, literacy and numeracy test. These activities are to ensure that

  • It is the right course for the individual
  • We understand the individual’s current skills and competencies
  • We are aware of any support needs a prospective student may have e.g. English language
  • The individual is aware of the requirements for the course, including the need for a Police Check, Working With Children Check and weekly self-study

Applicants who prefer a paper-based application can attend Integrity College’s office to complete the application form.


Student support

 All students have access to their trainer and assessor in class or via email or phone to assist with any academic issues they may be experiencing. Assistance may involve providing one on one lessons or additional information/materials.


Applicants who may have a problem with LLN can be supported by our staff to complete the course. This assistance may include additional time to complete assessments, help with word definitions and explanations of assessment tasks, etc. Alternatively referral to a specialist provider may be arranged.


We can tailor the training and assessment program to assist people with learning issues and, to a limited degree, personal issues. Students with identified learning needs will have an interview with the CEO to review their learning needs and to discuss Integrity College’s ability to meet these needs. Where Integrity College is unable to meet these needs, the individual’s application will be declined, and we will refer them to other services or colleges that can meet their needs.


Upon enrolment, students will also be given a Student Handbook which outlines their roles and responsibilities, our complaints and appeals procedure, and other policies and procedures that relate to various aspects of the student learning journey.
